2025 AusCycling BMX racing national calendar announced

Oct 1, 2024

For the first time since 2016, Australia’s pinnacle BMX Racing event will be held in New South Wales, as revealed in today’s announcement of the 2025 AusCycling BMX racing national calendar.

After successfully staging AusCycling National Series rounds in 2023 and 2024, Macarthur BMX in Sydney’s south-west will host the 2025 GWM BMX Racing National Championships from October 6-12.

The 2025 Pump Track National Championships will also now take place alongside the BMX Racing Championship at the Macarthur venue, shifting from the Mountain Bike National Championships where it has been staged over recent years.

Macarthur BMX is one of only five tracks in Australia with an 8-metre start hill, setting the scene for truly spectacular Superclass and Elite level BMX racing. The pump track at the venue was opened in 2022 and is almost 500m long, making it one of the newest and biggest pump tracks in Australia.

Other highlights from the 2025 BMX racing calendar include:

  • Round 1 and 2 of the National Series will be held at the newly redeveloped Shepparton BMX track.
  • Three of the four National Series venues have UCI accredited, Olympic standard 8-metre start hills.
  • For the first time, the Pump Track National Championships will feature during the GWM BMX Racing National Championships, taking place over the first two days of the week.
  • Blue Lake BMX and Portland BMX will host combined SA-VIC State Series rounds on March 8 & 9.

ARA Australian Cycling Team athlete, Sienna Pal:

“2025 is looking like a big year and I’m super excited. After some success in Elite this year I am feeling more like I belong at that level and I’m hungry to perform at the World Cups and World Championships. Having the 2025 AusCycling calendar out is great for myself and all the riders to see what races they want to perform at and plan their training to peak for that event.

“Between the UCI events I’m looking at the national rounds where most tracks have an 8m hill, which I’m stoked about as it will create good racing for both the riders and spectators. Then I’m more focused on Nationals to take the title in Elite – I’m excited for that one as it’ll be hosted at Macarthur which is almost like a home track for me, as I do gates there each week and they know how to put on a great event.”

“Australia has definitely built momentum, and the talent is showing through. With some superclass riders having success on the world stage and then racing here in Australia, it gives the younger generation an opportunity to witness world class riders and create a high standard for kids to be inspired to chase.”

AusCycling Head of Events, BMX Dale Percy:

“It’s wonderful seeing all the different towns and venues that will host a state or national series rounds when the calendar is revealed each year. These events play a major role in those communities and are often the defining event for a club over a 12-month period.”

“The calendar allows riders to start planning travel, clubs to gather resources for events, and committees to pitch to sponsors and local media. The dedication and hard work that goes into those commitments sits behind these calendars and can’t be underestimated.”

“The calendar also embodies the BMX Racing pathway in Australia: from state series to state championships, and onto national-level events, riders from all ages can now plot their journey of development for the coming year.”

“Creating the calendar is a major undertaking that involves working with many stakeholders and around UCI events, and the 2025 calendar has been designed to fit within these boundaries. Local, national, and international events dovetail together for maximum rider utility and 12-months of action-packed racing.”

The BMX Racing National Championships have previously been held in NSW in 2016 (Bathurst), 2007 (Lake Macquarie), 1997 (Tamworth), 1989 (Albion Park), 1981 (Ryde), and 1980 (Sydney, co-hosted with Brisbane).

Dates for the 2025 Mighty 11s Australian Test Team and Memorial Series will be announced in the coming months.

The 2025 UCI BMX Racing World Championships will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from July 29 to August 3.

The 2025 GWM BMX National Championships are supported proudly by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
