The BMX Racing National Championships are the premier event on the Australian BMX calendar, bringing together riders from as young as five to more than 60 years of age.

More than 1500 representatives from all states and territories are expected to travel to Tasmania for this year’s Championships, from November 23-26 at Launceston BMX Club.

Within the elite UCI event structure, national championships are only outranked by the Olympic Games and World Championships, and with valuable UCI points on offer, the event is sure to attract a bumper field of Australia’s best BMX riders.

Launceston will also play host to the first national championships in the world to include Para BMX. Para BMX will be contested for C5 to C1, intellectual impairment, deaf and transplant categories. The competition will be open wheel (20-inch and 24-inch) and split into two age groups: 8–13 and 14+.

The BMX Racing National Championships have been running annually since 1980 and are run as UCI events.

2022 is the first time the BMX Racing National Championships have been held in Launceston since 1994; a welcome return to the Apple Isle after being unable to host the cancelled 2020 AusCycling BMX Racing National Championships due to COVID.
