2021 AusCycling National Road Series Calendar released
Nov 24, 2020
The AusCycling (AC) National Road Series (NRS) will return in 2021 highlighted by an increased schedule and the continuation of the National Esport Cycling Series.
The 2021 NRS will open with the 105th edition of the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool which will see riders race the 267km course in hopes of claiming a prestigious spot on its honour roll.
The NRS is set to welcome back the Tour de Brisbane, with the second edition of the Tour to be held on April 11 and will feature both men’s and women’s races throughout on an inner-city circuit which has quickly become a favourite for riders.
The Classics series will be rounded out with the 60th edition of the David Reid Homes Grafton to Inverell on May 8 which will feature a women’s NRS race for the first time.
Zwift will continue to partner with AusCycling to expand the National ESport Cycling Series which will feature five races in 2021 across May, June and July.
The second half of the NRS season will recommence on July 30 with the return of the Tour of the Tropics, followed by a bumper line up of the Battle on the Border, Tour of the Great South Coast and the Tour of Gippsland.
The Ride Sunshine Coast Festival will make its NRS debut with an exciting four-stage event, while the Series' penultimate Tour, the Tour of Tasmania, will provide one of the most challenging parcours of the year.
L’Étape Australia will provide a new challenge to the NRS with the peloton to face mountainous routes based on a similar format to a genuine Tour de France stage.
AusCycling’s General Manager – Events and Racing, Kipp Kaufmann is excited ahead of a reinvigorated 2021 National Road Series.
“The interest by organisers and teams for the 2021 season has been tremendous. After a tough 2020 we are excited to expand the series this year,” said Kaufmann. “The quality of the series continues to grow as a platform to develop the next generation of Australian road talent.”
