Two Ways to Use Digital Membership Cards at Events

Event Organisers

There are two main ways event organisers can verify a participants' digital membership card:

  1. Visually Displaying the Card

This is similar to how plastic cards were used. Members simply display the digital card on their phone screen. (Note: the iPhone version has two sides.)

Benefits:

  • Up-to-date Information: Digital cards always show the latest membership status, including "inactive" if there are missed payments or expired memberships.
  • Grace Period: Participants can still participate for up to 14 days after their membership becomes inactive, following the existing policy.

Current Limitation:

  • Age Category: Unfortunately, the age category (e.g., MAS5) isn't currently displayed. However, the date of birth is available for manual verification. We're working on a solution to show this information in the future.

QR Code Scanning

Process:

Event organisers can scan the QR code on a participants' digital card.

Benefits:

  • Up-to-date Information: Like the visual display, the QR code provides the latest membership details, including level, status (active/inactive), and expiry date.
  • Grace Period: The 14-day grace period for inactive memberships also applies here.

Technical Note:

The QR code format has been updated for better integration with event entry systems. This might cause temporary issues with older codes on existing plastic cards. New plastic cards will use the same format as the digital cards.

The Future of Digital Cards

Digital membership cards offer significant advantages, including real-time information and the potential for future features like attendance confirmation and on-site registration.
