Ready to see if you have what it takes to be a cycling champion?
The AusCycling Virtual Talent ID program offers a convenient way to test your potential from the comfort of your own home. This page guides you through the testing process, whether you prefer joining a scheduled group workout or doing it at your own pace with a custom workout.
What you'll need
- A Bicycle
- A Compatible Trainer: Make sure it transmits power data (zPower is not accepted). You can find out more here.
- A Supported Device: Phone, tablet, or computer to run Zwift. You can find out more here.
- The Zwift App: Download and install the app here.
- A Zwift Account: Sign up for an account here or use your existing one. New users can access a 14-day free trial.
- A Zwift Power Account: Create an account here and link it to your Zwift account.
Getting Set Up on Zwift
- Link Your Accounts: Make sure your Zwift Power account is linked to your Zwift account.
- Trainer and Bike Setup: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to set up your indoor trainer and bicycle. If you get stuck, use Zwift's setup guide here.
- Launch the Zwift App: Open the Zwift app on your device. For any issues launching the app, use Zwift's launch guide here.
- Log In and Connect: Follow the prompts to log in to your Zwift account and connect your trainer. Take a look at Zwift's connection guide here if you need help.
Testing Methods
Method A: Group Workout
This option allows you to test alongside others and experience a competitive atmosphere.
- Register for the Workout: Sign up for the AusCycling Talent Identification group workout, held twice per week. Find upcoming events here.
- Join the Event: Up to 30 minutes before the test starts, follow the prompts within the Zwift app to join the event. Refer to Zwift's event joining guide if needed.
- Follow Instructions: Once the event begins, pay attention to the on-screen instructions to complete the test.

Method B: Custom Workout
This method offers more flexibility to complete the test at your convenience.
- Download the Workout File: Download the AusCycling_Talent_ID.zwo file.
- Import the Workout: Follow Zwift's instructions on importing custom workouts here
- Start the Workout: On the Zwift app home screen, navigate to the Workouts menu. Select the AusCycling Talent ID custom workout. Choose Start Ride, pick any route, and then select Start Workout.
- Follow Instructions: Once the workout begins, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the test.
After Your Test
- Download Results: Upon finishing your ride, log in to Zwift and download the .fit file from your activity.
- Email Results: Send the .fit file along with your age, gender, and some details about your sporting background to [email protected].
