18/07/2022: Rescheduled event now to take place on 13-14 August
Two days of racing for Under 9's all the way up to Under 17's at the Waratah Park off-road cycling facility! Day 1 will be the NSW Metro & Country Road Championships, with riders from Metropolitan Sydney Clubs racing in the morning, and country riders on in the afternoon.
Sunday will feature two events for all age categories, with Criteriums in the morning, followed by road racing on the long loop in the afternoon.
Age Categories & Eligibility
- Age Categories: U9, U11, U13, U15, U17
- Age Categories for this event are as per 2022 ages effective from 1st October 2021
- Financial AusCycling 'Race All Discipline' members only.
- This event is not open to Temporary or Recreational Memberships

Events will be run according to AusCycling Technical Regulations
Weather
The event will proceed as planned unless the conditions are deemed to be unsafe by the Race Organiser and Chief Commissaire on the morning of the event.

Registration
Registration Area is restricted to RIDERS only. Participation, U9 and U11 are requested to have ONE guardian to accompany the rider to registration
Roll-Out, Bike Check and Helmet Check
All riders must roll out their bikes and have their helmets checked before each race.
- Roll-out is held near to the top of Track 1 and Marshalling.
- Each bike MUST be rolled out at least 15 minutes prior to the race.
- The rider is to handle their own helmet for checking and bike for rollout.
Roll-Out Procedure
- Show your race numbers pinned in position to the commissaire.
- Show your helmet to the commissaire with the standards sticker visible.
- Select the hardest gear (large front ring and smallest cog at the rear).
- Place the bike onto the Roll-Out measure so it will free-wheel backwards along the track.
- Start the Roll-Out with the crank in a vertical position at the start mark and roll the bike backwards until one (1) full crank revolution is completed.
- Commissaire will approve the rider to race providing roll-out meets the required standard.
- Riders placing 1st to 5th will be required to report for roll-out at the end of the race.
- Failure to complete roll-out may provide reason for relegation.

- Gears must be locked off to prevent a rider using a gear that would enable them to roll over the maximum roll out distance as detailed below:

Warming up pre-event
- No riders will be allowed on the track until advised by the Chief Commissaire and First Aid are on site
- Track will be open for familiarisation as per the advertised race schedule
- No warm-up will be allowed on the course while racing is in progress
- If warming up in the car park or on local roads, please be careful and respect all road rules
Marshalling
- All riders are to be present at Marshalling 10 minutes prior to their race commencing
- Marshalling area is restricted to Commissaires and riders only, except for participation, U9 and U11 riders where ONE guardian per rider is allowed
Spares / Pits
- Any change of spares must be undertaken by the rider (a parent may assist)
- There will be no neutral spares – all spares to be provided by the riders
- Criterium pits are marked on the map. This is the only place a competitor can take 1 lap out for mechanical reasons only
Spectator area
- Spectators must remain on the outside of the track and stand behind the barriers at all times
- Please do not congregate in areas of high foot traffic such as the start / finish line and marshalling areas as it makes it difficult for officials to prepare for the next race
- Access to the toilets is via the crossing near the start / finish line
BBQ / Coffee Van
Sausage sandwiches and bacon & egg rolls will be available from 8.00am to 2.00pm. Coffee and drinks are available on site.
Toilets
Toilets are at the club house. Please keep them clean!
Presentation / Podium
- Presentations will be held as soon as practical after the event. The MC will advise when presentations will be held
- All placegetters must be in their cycling kit for the presentation
Medals
- Separate medals for first 3 metro riders and first 3 country riders in each race
- Interstate riders will not receive a medal regardless of their finishing position
2022 Northwave Junior Road State Series - NSW/ACT
- Sunday's Criteriums & Road Races will be Round 5 of the 2022 Northwave Junior Road State Series - NSW/ACT
- Both the Criterium & Road Race will attract stage points towards the overall series point score
- As Sunday is NOT classified as a tour, no bonus points will be awarded
- Saturday's NSW Junior Country & Metro Road Championships will NOT count toward the Series
- Bikesportz round prizes will be awarded to the top 3 in each age category by adding the points accumulated in both of Sunday's events
- In the result of a tie for points: The rider with the highest place in the Road Race will be used as the tie-breaker

General Information
- Pin your race numbers correctly to your jersey. One number on the rear of the jersey (top pins no higher than the jersey pocket opening). The second number on the left side of the jersey (to be visible to the camera with the rider in the sprint position)
- Remove any lights, cameras, saddle bags, pumps, TT bars etc. from your bike
- Races are being run in accordance with AusCycling Technical Regulations
- While all reasonable care is taken by the race organisers and officials when organising an event, all participating riders have an equal responsibility to ensure they take adequate care by adhering to the rules and conditions imposed by officials and Commissaires
- Competitors must wear an AusCycling approved helmet with the approval sticker attached
- Race numbers are to be placed on the lower back & left hip as prescribed under ‘Roll-Out’
- All competitors must be at marshalling 10 minutes before their race at the junction of Tracks 1 & 2 (on the finishing straight), having completed roll out to be briefed by the Commissaire
- Race distances may be shortened by the Chief Commissaire due to a number of circumstances to enable all races to be completed within the time schedule
- Due to time constraints and safety concerns, lapped riders may be asked to retire from the race. Places will be awarded on the position held at the time of withdrawal
- Once each competitor has crossed the finish line on their last lap they must turn up Track 1 as the next race will be starting immediately after the last competitor finishes
- The first five finishers in each race are required to roll out immediately after their race
- Should races need to be combined for unforeseen reasons, to meet time constraints. Please take care when passing slower riders / grades
- Commissaires may adjust race distances to ensure a separate finish for each division if 2 separate races are held at the same time
- Competitors in races run at the same time will be awarded with medals for their division
- NOTE: Any interstate competitors entering the Road Race championships on the Saturday will automatically be entered into the NSW Country races and they are unable to medal regardless of their finishing position
Event Program
- Please note: A number of categories have been combined into one race
- Separate Metro & Country medals will be awarded to top 3 eligible placegetters in each combined event (total of 6 medals awarded in each race)
- Start times are estimates only please allow sufficient time as there may be changes on the day
- Interstate riders will be ineligible for championship medals
