Preview: 2025 AusCycling BMX National Series heads to Cross Keys BMX

Jul 3, 2025

The penultimate stop of the 2025 AusCycling BMX Racing National Series arrives this weekend at Cross Keys BMX Club in Adelaide, South Australia.

Rounds 5 and 6 of this year's series mark the return of National Series racing to the Pooraka track for the first time since 2018.

This weekend's racing will be the last national-level action before a blockbuster week in October at Macarthur BMX Club for the seventh and final round, which doubles as the curtain raiser to the 2025 GWM BMX Racing National Championships.

Round 5 also serves as the second Mighty 11's Test Team qualifier of 2025.

All riders entered will race their respective 20 inch category, with times from all races (motos, qualifiers and finals) used to determine the top four male and female riders selected to represent Australia in the Mighty 11's Test Team.

Qualified riders will compete against New Zealand at the 2025 BMX New Zealand North Island Titles, hosted by Mountain Raiders BMX Club in Auckland on October 25 and 26.

A reminder that to qualify for overall series placing, riders must race at five of the seven rounds. If riders exceed five results, their best five results count towards their overall points.

Can't be in Adelaide to watch trackside? Both rounds will be live streamed and available for replay on SBS on Demand.

Superclass Men

Hometown favourite Joel Marsh (Happy Valley BMX Club) enters the weekend as the green plate series leader and the holder of a three round win streak.

The 21-year-old travelled to Europe since winning the Lake Macquarie double-header for the Sarrians and Papendal UCI BMX Racing World Cup weekends.

Fellow South Australian Matty Tidswell (The Cove BMX Club) trails Marsh by 30 points in the overall standings after posting finishes of second and fourth last time out.

Hayden Fletcher (Mansfield Mt Buller Cycling Club) and Samuel O'Grady (Bendigo BMX Club) sit fifth and sixth overall but could be on the move up with Jesse Asmus (Nerang BMX Club) and Rory Southwell (Macarthur BMX Club) not racing this weekend due to injuries sustained at the World Cups.

Superclass Women

Series leader Teya Rufus (Maryborough BMX Club) is straight back into racing after representing the ARA Australian Cycling Team at the Sarrians and Papendal UCI BMX Racing World Cups, with the highlight being qualification to her first elite final in the third round.

The 2024 junior women's world champion has a 22-point lead over Sienna Pal (Terrigal BMX Club) and looks set to extend that in Adelaide with her ARA Australian Cycling Team teammate not racing this weekend.

Mia Webster (Park Orchards BMX Club) has finished fifth in all four rounds and even sits fifth in the overall standings, two statistics that could change come the end of Sunday's Round 6 racing.
