Glasgow Daily - August 10

Aug 10, 2023

Lauren Parker, welcome to cycling! The three-time para-triathlon world champion opened her account yesterday at a cycling Worlds, winning the H3 individual time trial in Dumfries. That's our fifth rainbow jersey of the week, and all earned by our amazing para-cyclists!

After seven days of racing, the track competition has come to an end in Glasgow. Australia finishes with 20 medals, including four world titles, and the signs are promising ahead of next year's Paris Games.

Elsewhere, we celebrated a medal for a young road rider, Hamish McKenzie, who placed third in the under-23 individual time trial despite being the fifth-youngest competitor in the field.

The observed trials competition began in Glasgow Green, and Australia was able to field its first-ever mixed team in that competition. Outstanding stuff!

The cross-country has also kicked off over at Glentress Forest as we enter the next phase of these mega Worlds. Stay tuned tonight and over the next few nights as our hunt for rainbows continues!
