Australia set to host three events in new UCI Gravel World Series
Mar 27, 2022
Australia will welcome three major Gravel events in 2022 after confirming two events as part of the inaugural Trek UCI Gravel World Series.
In partnership with AusCycling, SEVEN and GRAVELISTA will become part of the Trek UCI Gravel World Series in 2022.
The purpose of the Trek UCI Gravel World Series (‘UGWS’) is to enable elite, amateurs and masters' cyclists to earn a start in the UCI Gravel World Championships through a series of qualifier events.
SEVEN
Based in the small township of Nannup near to world renown Margaret River Region of Western Australia, SEVEN has been designed from the beginning to be one of the toughest one day events in Australia. The full course (125km) has a total of ten officially categorised climbs, giving it enough elevation to be not only one of the most challenging one day events in Australia, but anywhere in the world. The top riders come to compete for the prestige of being in the top ten, but the majority of the events 1000 plus participants come just to enjoy the scenery and hopefully get home before the ten hour cut off.
SEVEN joins the UCI upcoming Gravel World Series in the hope of being able to showcase this amazing course to the rest of the world and enable both local and visiting riders the opportunity to “make their bike world bigger” by qualifying for the World Championship or by simply entering other qualifying events in the series
GRAVELISTA
Set in Beechworth, Victoria and from the organisers of the GRAVEL GIRO at the Giro Della Donna and The Dirty Pig & Whistle Event, the GRAVELISTA is a celebration of some of the finest gravel riding in Australia located in an iconic destination.
In addition to superb riding options well-suited to a UCI level event, the tourist experience and amenities around the riding ensure a world-class experience for all involved. As with other events, GRAVELISTA will encompass a weekend of activity and celebration around the racing, with an event village, expo, fine food and drink and activities for supporters as well as riders.
2022 AUSCYCLING NATIONAL GRAVEL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2022 AusCycling National Championships will head to Noosa, Queensland as part of the Specialized Noosa Gravel 100.
This epic weekend of riding will be a perfect chance to claim the green and gold jersey.
