COVID-19 Update - August 9

In response to the developing situation nationally concerning COVID-19 outbreaks and related restrictions, AusCycling is providing an update on several events. Last Update July 19 2021.

After consultation with our hosts, government agencies, riders and team managers, we have made the decision to make changes to:

  • AusCycling Cyclo-Cross National Championships

  • Tour of the Tropics (NRS and State Graded events)

  • ACT/NSW BMX State Championships and Series

  • BMX National Cup R3 & R4 – Nerang

  • Victorian BMX State Series

  • Queensland State Road Events

We understand there will always be disappointment, however, we are committed to hosting as many events as possible this year. While changes will not suit everyone, and we remind riders that they can scratch at any time through EntryBoss and receive an immediate refund.


AusCycling National Cyclo-Cross Championships

Due to the recent Victorian lockdown, the Championships will now be conducted on October 17 and will have a new location in Victoria. AusCycling thank Sunbury Cycling Club for their work on the Championships to this point - the Championships have been moved due to limited date availability at the Broadford track for the remainder of 2021. The new venue will be set over the next two weeks.


Tour of the Tropics (NRS and State Graded events)

The Tour of the Tropics will be moved to November 5-7.


ACT/NSW BMX State Series and State Championships

The continued lockdowns and restrictions in New South Wales have resulted in the BMX State Championships for NSW and ACT, needing to be rescheduled and combined. The remaining rounds of the ACT/NSW BMX State Series will also be rescheduled.

The ACT/NSW BMX State Championships will occur as a combined Championships at Hawkesbury BMX on November 5-7.

The ACT/NSW BMX State Series events will now be conducted as follows:

  • Round 7 (Southlake BMX) will now be on October 3

  • Round 6 (Manning Valley BMX) will now be on October 17

  • Round 8 (Batemans Bay BMX) will now be on October 24


BMX National Cup R3 & R4 - Nerang

The BMX National Cup Rounds 3 and 4 in Nerang, Queensland will be rescheduled to October 30-31.


Victorian BMX State Series

The restrictions in Victoria have resulted in some of the remaining rounds of the VIC BMX State Series being rescheduled or cancelled.

  • Round 6 (Bacchus Marsh BMX) will remain as scheduled on September 19

  • Round 4 (Mildura BMX) will now be on September 26

  • Round 5 (Northern BMX) has been cancelled with no suitable dates available for the round to be scheduled

For any of the BMX events listed above, if one week prior they are unable to be run in a safe manner they will not be conducted.


Queensland Road Events

The following events will be rescheduled with more information to be released this week:

  • Darren Smith Classic (Rd 3 QCRS)

  • Queensland Junior State Road Championships

  • Rd 4 Queensland ITT Series


We continue to review the Junior Road National Championships. We remain focused on delivering the event and should an alternative date be required it will be determined by August 20.

We note that while we are committed to all these events occurring this will be the final time many will be rescheduled.

We thank all our riders, partners, hosts and spectators for their understanding and cooperation. These are challenging times and we appreciate the ongoing support of the cycling family as we navigate this together.
