Brisbane Cycling Festival presented by King St to return in 2023

Australia’s largest multi-disciplinary cycling event returns over four big weeks delivering an action-packed month of events, races, rides, expo’s and more.

With the full program to be released in the new year the Brisbane Cycling Festival presented by King St has announced that the festival will return from 15 March – April 16 2023.

The citywide celebration of all things cycling will come together at the Brisbane Showgrounds and across the adjacent King St precinct over the Festival Village weekend from 31 March – April 2.

In 2023 the festival will again have an international flavour with the combined Oceania Championships returning to the program. Oceania Championship titles will be contested across seven disciplines BMX Freestyle, Mountain Bike Cross Country, Mountain Bike Downhill, Para-cycling (road and track), Road (time trial and road race) and Track from 24 March – April 1.

And of course, the festival’s signature events and activities return including the Alé King St Kick It a fast-paced criterium under lights on King St Friday 31 March, Active Lifestyle Expo with industry leaders within the Brisbane Showgrounds 31 March – April 2 and the Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane April 2.

Riders of all abilities will have the opportunity to ride through Brisbane like never before thanks to the Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane, which navigates 110km of fully closed city roads across a variety of course distances.

There are multiple rides to get you moving with distances and challenges for everyone. Whether you’re going for a pedal with the fam or going for the podium, there’s a ride or race for you.

Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane Event Director Mike Crawley says the team was excited for the return of the Oceania Road Cycling Championships, including a Time Trial and Road Race for Elite and Para competitors during the event weekend.

The Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane aims to raise $200,000 for The Common Good charity in support of medical research at Prince Charles Hospital.

As we look forward with excitement to Brisbane 2032, spectators will have the opportunity to watch Australia’s elite talent race in the AusCycling National Road Series and for the track lovers, see some of Australia’s best athletes in action at the 2023 AusCycling Track National Championships for Junior, Elite & Under 19, Para-cycling and Masters back at the Anna Meares Velodrome, 15 March – April 16.

AusCycling Executive General Manager – Sport, Kipp Kaufmann said the festival would return for its fourth year with events across Brisbane during the festival period.

“We’re super excited about the opportunities in 2023 for people to come and experience Brisbane on a bike over four big weeks of cycling. The festival features a unique combination of international standard major events including the Track National Championships and Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane coupled with a 100 plus community focused events for participants of all abilities and age to enjoy!” Kaufmann said.

In 2022 the Brisbane Cycling Festival presented by King St was the recipient of the Major Event Promotion Award and the major prize ‘The Overall Sport, Recreation and Play Industry Award for Innovation’ at the Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Industry Innovation Awards.

In 2023 the Brisbane Cycling Festival is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council, through Brisbane Economic Development Agency and the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland, and features on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.
