AusCycling appoints new Performance executive
Feb 16, 2022
AusCycling is pleased to announce the appointment of Jesse Korf to the new role of Executive General Manager: Performance.
Korf secured the role after an extensive recruitment process involving both Australian and international candidates.
In his new role, Korf will be responsible for AusCycling’s elite programs across all cycling and riding disciplines and will be critical in evolving the Australian Cycling Team’s culture, structure, and processes.
Korf is a highly-credentialled manager and professional coach who has worked in senior roles across multiple sports including Basketball, Speed Skating and Cycling in Canada, the US and the Netherlands.
Most recently, he was AusCycling’s Director of Performance Pathways before assuming the position of Interim Performance Director after the Tokyo Olympics.
He is completing a PhD in Kinesiology and Health Science and holds a Master’s degree in International Sports Management from the Johan Cruyff Institute in Amsterdam.
Korf said he was thrilled to accept the role and looked forward to driving elite performance while nurturing connections and pathways between aspiring riders and cyclists, their communities, and the Australian Cycling Team.
‘’I am feeling both humbled and excited to be chosen for this role,’’ Korf said. ‘’Australia’s rich cycling and riding history, the talent in our current team and the passion and support of Australia’s sporting public makes this a unique and highly motivating opportunity.
‘’I’m looking forward to creating a real focus on developing people to push the frontiers of human performance and to support riders and staff to be at their best in their career at the Australian Cycling Team and beyond.
AusCycling CEO, Marne Fechner, said Korf would bring a range of high-levels skills and perspectives to the role.
‘’We met many outstanding candidates during this process,’’ Fechner said. ‘’But what stood out about Jesse was his vision for the program, his emphasis on driving great culture and his commitment to creating robust pathways for athletes coming into and leaving the system.’’
She said Korf would be a member of the AusCycling Executive Leadership Team, a change designed to ensure better connections between the organisation’s many activity pillars.
Korf will begin his new role immediately.
