2027 Technical Regulations: What’s Changing
The 2027 AusCycling Technical Regulations apply to all sanctioned events from 1 January 2027. This summary covers the key changes across Road, Mountain Bike, Gravel, Cyclo-cross, BMX Racing, BMX Freestyle, Para-Cycling and Esports, plus updates that apply to all disciplines. Highlights include new road helmet specifications, expanded Gravel race distances for juniors and a new course design framework, and International licence requirements for National Championships. Track changes were communicated separately.

New Helmet and Visor Rules
From 1 January 2027, helmets must be worn correctly and visors must fully cover the eyes at all Road and Track events, in line with the UCI Regulations.

New Helmet Type Rules
From 1 January 2027, check which helmet type is permitted for your Road, Track or Cyclo-cross event, and that it meets the maximum size.

New Handlebar Rules for Track
From 1 January 2027, new minimum width and maximum cross-section measurements apply to track handlebars for Under 17, Under 19 (Junior), Elite and Masters riders.
