Ten junior downhill riders to compete at the 2022 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships

AusCycling is pleased to announce the ten junior downhill riders selected to the Australian team to contest the 2022 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, which will be held from August 24-28 in Les Gets, France.

Leading the junior brigade will be current Propain Factory Racing UCI World Cup rider Remy Meier-Smith (NSW), who has already podiumed at the Fort William and Lourdes rounds this season.

Joining Meier-Smith in the men’s squad is fellow UNION-contracted UCI World Cup regular, Oliver Davis (VIC), who will be racing at his second world championships, and placed 21st last year in Val di Sole, Italy.

Mario Baldwin (ACT) and Sasha Kim (TAS) placed second and third at the 2022 AusCycling Mountain Bike National Championships at Maydena Bike Park and will make their world championships debut in August.

Trent Beashel (NSW) and Kael Foale (SA) complete the men’s contingent, with both riders also set to make their debut in the green and gold.

Elise Empey (VIC) is set to lead a quartet of Aussie women in France after being crowned junior women’s national champion in February.

Empey is joined by current junior women’s downhill Oceania champion Elle de Nooyer (QLD), Connor Mielke (NSW) and Poppy Pollock (NSW).
