Junior downhill riders selected in ARA Australian Cycling Team for UCI Mountain Bike World Championships

Nine junior athletes have been selected to represent the ARA Australian Cycling Team at the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Andorra.

The team which was announced by the AusCycling National Selection panel will compete for the rainbow jersey from 26 August to 1 September.

Five of the riders will make their World Championships debut along with returning members Mitchell Claxton, William Ireland, Rye Carlyon and Sacha Mills, who were part of the 2023 team that competed in Glasgow.

Mills recently finished fifth at the Leogang round of the UCI Downhill World Cup.

Cooper Northey and Elleni Turkovic booked their ticket to their first World Championships after claiming the junior downhill national title at Awaba earlier this year.

Zac Bradley who finished with the bronze medal at the national championships, also makes his debut and has been getting international experience competing in the 2024 UCI Downhill World Cup.

As has Carter Sloan who made the finals at the Poland round of the World Cup where he finished in the top 20.

Victorian Patrick Ward is the final remaining member of the junior men’s team.
