And just like that, the UCI World Championships are over!

On the last day of competition, we celebrated another medal: silver to Sienna Pal in the junior women’s BMX racing. That was a tale of never giving up: she crashed in the quarter-final and almost didn’t make it through. But her persistence got her to the final, where she put it all together to make the podium.

A gruelling women’s road race saw a big crash to Sarah Roy, who was checked by the team doctor and thankfully appears to be OK. We’re wishing her the best with her recovery.

All up, after 12 days of competition, Australia has finished with 38 medals: seven gold, 21 silver and 10 bronze. Our athletes and staff have done us proud with how they’ve represented the green-and-gold to the world.

Thank you, dear reader, for supporting the ARA Australian Cycling Team every step of the way. There’ll be plenty of time to analyse and assess what’s just happened. But for now, it’s time to pack up and make the long journey home!
