Before she became a professional cyclist, Brodie Chapman was already fully immersed in the cycling world.

The Queenslander grew up in the region of Mount Glorious, outside Brisbane. Her father gave her a BMX bike at age 12, but her first foray into racing was in downhill mountain biking and enduro.

Chapman worked various jobs involving bikes: as a bicycle courier, in a bike shop as a mechanic, and in cycling media.

She raced two years in the National Road Series before her big breakthrough in the summer of 2018. After finishing sixth in the Australian championship road race, Chapman earned a start at the Herald Sun Tour with the national team.

There, she shocked a world-class field by soloing to victory on stage 1. She defended the leader’s jersey on stage 2’s time trial to beat Annemiek van Vleuten and Chloe Hosking to the overall win.

She quickly signed with American team TIBCO-SVB, opening the door to a pro career.

2019 brought more strong results, including two stages and the overall at the Tour of the Gila in the USA, and a stage win in Czechia.

From 2020, Chapman rode with the French FDJ team. She started with a win at  Race Torquay – the lead-up race to the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, where she placed 10th.

She gained experience as a domestique in the hillier European classics and stage races, occasionally earning solid results for herself, including a top 10 at the Ronde van Vlaanderen and win at the Grand Prix de Chambéry in 2022.

In 2023, Chapman switched to the Trek team and enjoyed immediate success, soloing to victory in the Australian road race national championship in Ballarat. She also won bronze in the time trial national championship, a sign of her progression in that discipline.

After a year in the green-and-gold jersey, Chapman returned to Ballarat to improve her time trial medal to silver. She would go on to enjoy a strong season against the clock, finishing on the podium of four out of the five individual time trials she contested before placing 11th at the World Championships in Zurich.

Three days later, Chapman helped power Australia to a world title in the mixed relay team time trial, winning the rainbow jersey alongside Grace Brown, Ruby Roseman-Gannon, Michael Matthews, Ben O’Connor and Jay Vine.

From 2025, Chapman will race with UAE Team ADQ on the Women’s WorldTour.
