Hailing from Bayswater North in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Turner began riding BMX at the Eastfield BMX Club in Kilsyth, aged 4.

Turner didn’t wait long to achieve success in BMX Racing, securing second place in 10 Boys at the Australian BMX National Championships in 2004, and the W4 plate in the same category at the 2004 World Championships in The Netherlands.

Turner announced his arrival at senior level in 2015, as he secured his first World Cup podium in Sweden, and competed in the time trial at the 2015 UCI BMX World Championships, finishing 14th.

After making it to the semi-finals at 2016 UCI World Championships, Turner qualified for the Rio Olympics where he narrowly missed the semi-finals, finishing in 20th place.

At the first UCI BMX Supercross World Cup event of 2017, Turner narrowly missed out on a podium in fourth place, and the Victorian would finish the season 12th overall in the World Cup standings that year.

Turner achieved a career-best result at the UCI BMX World Championships in 2017, finishing 6th in the field, while domestically he also recorded a National Series win that year in Shepparton.

Showing his cross-discipline skills, Turner won the Crankworx mountain bike competition on debut in Canada in 2017, while in 2019 he finished in second place at the UCI Pump Track Qualifier in Mount Gambier, South Australia.

Turner returned to the UCI World Cup in 2020, highlighted by a semi-final berth in round 2 of the competition at Shepparton, and he narrowly missed out on the podium at the Australian National Championships on the Gold Coast in 2021, finishing fourth.

2022 and 2023 would see a period of sustained success for Turner, with back-to-back elite victories in both the Oceania BMX Championships and the Australian National Championships.

He also achieved podiums in the USA BMX Pro Series at this time, with a second and third place at the Carolina Nationals in 2023, but undoubtedly the highlight of this period was a third place in Round 9 of the 2023 UCI BMX Racing World Cup in Argentina.

With expectations high for a strong 2024 season, Turner was dealt a massive blow when he landed heavily and broke his femur in Round 2 the UCI BMX World Cup in New Zealand, ruling out any dreams of a return to the Olympics.

After almost 10 months recovering, Turner returned to win the 2024 Victorian State championship and compete at the Australian National Championships, where he finished seventh in the Elite final and fifth in the Superclass final.
