Hayden Vimpani and Zoe Davison got their 2026 AusCycling Cyclo-cross National Series off to an absolute flyer in Perth at the weekend.
The duo took out back-to-back victories in the elite men and women’s categories.
Vimpani, 17, stepped up to the elite ranks for the first time in Round 1 against a field led by reigning national champion Tristan Nash.
However, it wasn’t the start to the series the Perth local had hoped for with a crash and mechanicals hindering his chance at the win. That opened the door for Vimpani to claim a stunning victory.

Nash held on for second, while Victorian Campbell McConnell rounded out the podium.
The course was run in reverse for Round 2 , and it was again Victorian teenager Vimpani who made the most of it with Nash not on the start line.
Fellow Western Australian’s Toby Price and Oliver James were unable to topple the young gun as he took the chequered flag.
“This necessarily wasn’t my strength on a dry course,” Vimpani said.
“I’m much better in the mud so the future races will suit me better.”
In the elite women, Zoe Davison enjoyed a breakout win in her home state.
It was the first CX National Series win for Zoe Davison.
The Fremantle-based rider did enough early in the race to gap the chasers in Angie Bollam and Victoria Burrows-Bilton.
Davison finished nearly five minutes ahead of Bollam and Burrows-Bilton who battled it out for the minor placings.
Round 2 on Sunday was a similar scenario for Davison as she charged to another win in the west.
“I preferred it (Sunday) just because the sand was a bit tackier but there were a few corners on the grassy section which were a bit harder and slippery I found,” she said.
This time the minor placings would be reversed after the five laps with Burrows-Bilton taking home the silver ahead of Bollam.
Round 3 & 4 of the 2026 AusCycling CX National Series will be held in Canberra on June 23 – 24.
