Are you passionate about BMX racing and want to be part of the biggest event in the world, right here on Australian soil?
Do you want to support the next generation of Australian BMX racing talent and top masters riders as they represent the country, competing for the coveted W1 plate?
With the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships taking place in Brisbane from July 17-25, Australia is expected to have a team of more than 1,000 riders competing across masters and challenge categories.
AusCycling is looking for assistant team managers to support Australia’s challenge and masters riders as they compete on the world stage at home.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role at one of our sport’s premier events.
What does an assistant team manager do?
Assistant team managers are experienced leaders responsible for guiding and managing Australia’s Challenge and Masters Team throughout the World Championships.
Working closely with athletes, families, coaches, and event officials, team managers help ensure the team is well-prepared, supported, and represented during the event.
Why you’ll love it
Australia’s BMX Challenge and Masters Team Leader, Simon Anderson, has spent many years supporting Australian riders at World Championships across the globe.
“This is a unique chance to contribute to a historic moment for BMX racing in Australia and help deliver an exceptional experience for riders representing the country at a home World Championships,” he said.
Jayce Cunning, who is part of the core leadership team, said it was a rewarding experience to be part of riders’ journeys.
“Worlds is a very stressful time. So, to be able to help all the riders behind the scenes and make the day as smooth as it can possibly be, so they can focus on riding and the task at hand, is what I find important," Cunning said.
"And, I get to work with awesome people from around Australia."

What you’ll be doing
Assistant team managers have a variety of roles and responsibilities, but broadly you will:
- Support the Lead Team Managers in coordinating team operations and logistics;
- Assist with athlete, parent/carer and team enquiries throughout the event;
- Provide on-ground support during practice and competition days;
- Assist with communication between athletes, team staff and event officials; and
- Support incident management and post-event reporting where required.
What we’re looking for
Assistant team managers may come from a variety of backgrounds, but should ideally bring at least one of the following:
- Current BMX racing official accreditation
- Current BMX racing coaching accreditation
- At least five years of elite BMX racing experience
- Bicycle mechanic experience
Assistant team managers should also have strong knowledge of BMX racing rules, experience in dispute resolution, and athlete support and effective communication with event officials and stakeholders.
