AusCycling position statement on international activities update

Mar 1, 2022

In response to the ongoing nature of the global COVID-19 pandemic, AusCycling is updating its position on international activities. Effective from 1 March 2022.

Consideration has been given to a range of factors including, but not limited to, the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on:

  • The general environment and its effect on the population worldwide
  • International racing opportunities
  • Domestic and International Government travel restrictions, flight availability, and costs
  • Short and long-term health risks
  • Availability and scope of international travel insurance
  • AusCycling's duty of care towards its members and staff

In reviewing the policy, AusCycling acknowledges the continued COVID-19 vaccine rollout progression both domestically and internationally, and that international cycling activities are taking place overseas. AusCycling recognises the need for riders to continue to pursue their careers and recommends that athletes:

  • who are travelling internationally as individuals (not a member of an AusCycling National Team or the Australian Cycling Team) adopt safe travel practices and abide by the vaccine requirements of the countries they are visiting
  • ensure they have adequate personal travel insurance that includes cover for COVID-19

All riders selected for AusCycling activities, National Teams or the Australian Cycling Team to compete in UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) International events or attend AusCycling approved camps, must have an up-to-date covid 19 vaccination status and sign the AusCycling Endorsed Travel Informed Consent Form and/or the Australian Cycling Team Covid Team Safe Policy.

AusCycling will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates when new information is available and required.
