2024 AusCycling BMX national calendar released

Sep 27, 2023

The AusCycling BMX Racing National Championship will return to Western Australia for the first time since 2018, while Melbourne will again host the AusCycling BMX Freestyle National Championship, as revealed in today’s launch of the 2024 AusCycling BMX National Calendar.

Westside BMX Club in the northern suburbs of Perth will host Australia’s premier BMX racing event from 7-13 October, while Rampfest Indoor Skate Park in Melbourne will be the venue for the BMX Freestyle National Championship from 10-11 February.

Both events will attract the best professional and amateur riders from across Australia, and with other national and state level events also locked in, the BMX community can now begin planning for the year ahead.

Other highlights from the 2024 BMX Racing National Calendar include the UCI BMX Racing World Cup Week: A week-long festival of BMX Racing at Sleeman Supercross Track in Brisbane from February 18-25, incorporating two rounds of the UCI World Cup, the 2024 Oceania Championships, Round 1 of the AusCycling National Series, Round 1 of the Queensland State Series, Challenge class and participation events.

The AusCycling BMX Racing National Series will also cover four states in 2024, with Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, and Perth all hosting rounds of the national event, while an extra round has also been added to further increase participation opportunities.

AusCycling is working with BMX NZ to finalise arrangements for the 2024 Might 11s Test Team and Memorial Series, with more details to be announced in the coming weeks.

AusCycling CEO Marne Fechner acknowledged the many parties behind the calendar’s creation, given the key role it plays in the BMX community.

“Securing dates and venues as far as 12 months in advance is no easy feat, and I’d like to thank the clubs, AusCycling staff, and various state and local governments for putting in place the many commitments needed to build the BMX calendar,” Fechner said.

“Announcing the calendar allows everyone to start planning for 2024, and just as importantly, it creates a sense of anticipation as we look to the year ahead.

“Rampfest is no stranger to hosting the BMX Freestyle National Championship, and I look forward to the venue and promoters turning on a big weekend on and off the ramps and we saw Westside BMX Club play host for the National Series earlier this year, so we know the venue and club are going to deliver a fantastic National Championship event.”

Rampfest Indoor Skate Park in Melbourne’s west hosted the BMX Freestyle National Championship most recently in 2022 and 2021, while the BMX Racing national championships have previously been held in WA in 2018 (Bunbury), 2009 (Perth), 1999 (Perth), 1991 (Fremantle), and 1984 (Byford).

All dates and venues are subject to change.
