Riders who race with AusCycling.

  • Nick – NSW · MTB, XCO & Road racer

Being a member has connected me with more like-minded people, given me opportunities to race, and given me a chance to give back to the community through volunteering. Riding a bike is my self-care - it keeps me physically fit and healthy and is an important part of my mental health. I'm a better person after I've ridden my bike!”

  • Charlotte – NSW · Road racer

"Being an AusCycling member allows me to join in with events and racing that I would otherwise miss out on. The insurance protection also gives me peace of mind as both a commissaire and rider."

  • Carlijin – VIC · Club racer

"I joined AusCycling after a 'Women's Learn to Race' course, and then I joined a club. The support of the club set the foundation of my love for cycling – I made life-long friends and gained so many riding skills. The racing is a bonus for those who want to try it, but it isn't necessary if you just want to enjoy riding a bike.”

  • Ryan, 48 - Sydney · MTB and road racer

"I race at state and national level across MTB, but I also trained for the gran fondo world champs last year.”

Clubs membership FAQs.

What events can I enter with AusCycling Club membership?

Club membership covers all club and inter-club sanctioned events across every AusCycling discipline — BMX, CX, Gravel, MTB, Road, Track and more. You can also enter gran fondos, group rides and club activities. Club membership does not include state or national AusCycling events — that requires Race membership.

What’s the difference between Club and Race?

Club covers local and inter-club racing. Race opens up state and national championships and includes a UCI licence for world championship events. Not sure which you need? Club is a great place to start — you can upgrade to Race any time.

Can I upgrade from Club to Race mid-year?

Yes. If you decide to race at state or national level during the year, you can upgrade to Race membership and pay only the pro-rata price difference for the remaining period.

Why have you moved to multi-discipline memberships?

Many riders and clubs are moving to multi-disciplinary focus, and even our competitive athletes have found the performance benefits of multi-discipline training.

There are several reasons for this change:

  • The cost of insurance and servicing membership is broadly the same across disciplines.
  • The Race membership now provides access to racing opportunities across road, MTB, gravel, BMX and track.
  • A licence for UCI events can be added through the new platform, at no additional cost (saving up to $180).

Many riders already participate across disciplines, and this structure makes it easier to do so with a single membership.

Can I race without a Race membership?

It depends. If you want to compete at state-level or higher, you will need a Race membership. But if you only want to race locally with your club or inter-clubs, the new Club membership will be perfect for your needs.

What does the insurance cover?

Your membership includes two types of cover that work together to protect you every time you ride.

  • 24/7 Personal accident: your protection if you're injured
  • $20m Public liability: your protection for others
What sets AusCycling cover apart

Most cycling insurance policies exclude racing and timed events. The moment you pin on a number, you're uninsured. AusCycling is different. You're covered during club races, state and national events, and all AusCycling-sanctioned competitions across every discipline.

For all the details including a transparent breakdown of what’s covered and what’s not, and how AusCycling insurance works with private health and income protection, visit the Insurance Explainer page.

Does my membership cover eBike riding?

Yes. AusCycling's 24/7 insurance covers eBike riding, provided your eBike meets Australian standards. Under Australian law, an eBike is classified as a bicycle if it has a maximum power output of 250W and the motor cuts out above 25km/h. If your eBike meets these requirements, you're covered the same way as any other rider — training, commuting, social rides and non-competitive events.

If your eBike exceeds these limits it may be classified as a motor vehicle, in which case it would need to be registered and insured separately. If you're unsure whether your eBike qualifies, check with your state or territory road authority.

How does the family discount work?

A 15% discount applies automatically for families of 2 or more members. If you are claiming the discount, you can add your family members in your JustGo account. The discount then applies across all linked AusCycling memberships, regardless of which product each family member holds (Ride, Club or Race). You can choose whether to pay upfront, or in monthly instalments.

The discount is not applied to the cost of joining your preferred club^. This cost will be paid upfront in your first instalment.

This replaces the previous AusCycling family membership structure with a simpler approach that you can easily manage.

Can I join multiple clubs on one membership?

Yes. One Club membership lets you join as many affiliated AusCycling clubs as you like. Note that individual clubs may charge their own membership or joining fees on top of your AusCycling membership. Any additional fee will be added to your cart when you select your preferred club, to be paid upfront on checkout (not eligible for family discount).

Can I downgrade from Club mid-year?

All memberships are an annual commitment and cannot be downgraded once purchased. Club memberships are annual and cannot be downgraded before your next renewal date.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Race membership is available as an annual payment (from $319) or as a monthly instalment plan ($26.58/month). Both options give you a 12-month membership. The monthly plan simply spreads the cost across the year. Any additional cost for joining your preferred club^ will be paid upfront and added to your first instalment.

I previously held a Race Off-Road or Race Regional membership, what happens?

Your old membership is no longer available, so you were moved to the new Race product when we moved to the JustGo platform in August 2026. When you are due for renewal, you can decide whether you would like to race state-level and above (renew onto Race), or whether you will only race local club/inter-club races (renew onto Club).

I only race a few times a year — is Club the right choice?

If you compete regularly at club level, Club is the right fit. If you only race once or twice a year, Event Licences are also available:

  • 1-day licence: $44 — for individual club or bronze-level events
  • 7-day licence: $74 — for a short race trip or series

Note: Event Licences are not available for State or National level events.

#Note: your membership is your insurance licence, not an event entry ticket — entry fees apply separately.

Family discount: a 15% discount applies across any AusCycling membership product for families of 2 or more members, when linked in JustGo membership platform. Discount does not apply to club fees which go directly to your selected club.
