Engaging with Children and Young People
Sport’s Integrity Australia’s Do’ & Don’t booklet is a resource which will assist our members and volunteers feel comfortable in engaging children and understanding acceptable behaviour.
Find all resources, which further promote a safe and supportive environment for children and young people involved in cycling below. There are targeted resources available for clubs, parents and for children and young people.
Working with Children Check Requirements
To support a safe and welcoming environment across cycling, all clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers must comply with relevant Working with Children Check (WWCC) requirements in their state or territory.
Anyone involved in child-related roles within the sport may be required to hold a valid WWCC before undertaking their duties.
Club Responsibilities
Clubs are responsible for ensuring that individuals in child-related positions:
- Hold a valid and current WWCC where required by law
- Prior to commencing duties WWCC is validated by the club
- Comply with all safeguarding and child safe requirements
Clubs should maintain appropriate records and undertake regular checks to ensure compliance.
