Record registrations received for Ride Nation Schools for Term 4
Nov 25, 2020
AusCycling is pleased to announce record registration for Ride Nation Schools for Term 4 across Australia.
Ride Nation Schools is a fun and interactive bike education program that teaches young people to develop their riding skills and confidence – supporting kids in their independence and giving parents peace of mind.
The program involves developing cycling skills through fun and interactive bike riding activities and creating opportunities to continue participation whether that be recreational riding or through other activities promoted on the Ride Nation Marketplace.
The Term 4 program has attracted 5000 participants, 20% more than any previous term since the program launched in 2015, with students currently underway in six states with New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia leading the way.
As Australian families kept active and fit together during COVID-19, riding bikes boomed across the country.
As a result, more children have been encouraged to ride to and from school, and with schools looking to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst their students, more teachers have registered to become bike education Instructors.
Working with the Western Australia Government, the program has seen 60+ teachers accredited to deliver bike education programs within their schools.
While in South Australia, students have been provided exciting opportunities to engage in different forms of bike riding including an indoor velodrome track session.
“It is great to see that the love of bike riding, which many people found or reconnected with during the Covid-19 restriction period, is translating into a continued interest in riding to and from school and in local communities,” said Nicole Adamson, AusCycling General Manager, Participation & Advocacy.
“Ride Nation bike ed programs in schools provide students with the knowhow to have fun on their bikes, and parents with the peace of mind that their children have the required skills to safely enjoy bike riding.”
