Lisa Jacobs appointed as Director of AusCycling
Jan 28, 2025
AusCycling is pleased to announce that lawyer, senior executive and former elite cyclist, Lisa Jacobs, has joined the Board as an Appointed Director.
Jacobs, a three-time cyclo-cross national champion, was also an elite road rider who competed in the Giro d’Italia and held scholarships at the Australian Institute of Sport, the South Australian Sports Institute, and the Victorian Institute of Sport.
Her business experience is significant, having spent 19 years as a commercial lawyer in multinational law firms and in listed and private corporations in Australia, the UK, and Europe.
She has also worked with boards as a non-executive director, designed and overseen governance frameworks, and held board and other senior roles in several cycling and other organisations.
Jacobs recently completed a six-year stint with REA Group where she worked across technology, cybersecurity, data, and memberships models – all key areas of development for AusCycling as it moves into the second phase of its United2032 strategy.
AusCycling Chair Craig Bingham said Jacobs was chosen from an extremely strong field of candidates, and that her blend of governance, commercial and high-performance experience would be the perfect complement to the skills and perspectives of other Directors.
“I’m delighted to be joining the AusCycling Board at such a key moment for the organisation,” Jacobs said.
“While our recent Olympic and Paralympic results demonstrate that, with the right strategies, cycling and riding can enjoy sustained success, I’m also excited to be involved in the development of pathways that inspire more Australians to ride.”
