Waratah Masters defends AusCycling Esports title with late surge

Aug 3, 2024

Waratah Masters Cycling Club has completed a remarkable comeback to retain their overall title in the AusCycling National Club Cycling Esports Series.

The defending champions, who have been untouchable in previous editions, found themselves in the unfamiliar position of third place after Round 3. At that point, with three rounds to go, they had a deficit of 300 points to leaders ZSUN Cycling Club.

But a late rally in the second half of the competition sprang them into the lead after Round 5. And, after another strong performance in Thursday night’s final round, Waratah Masters will retain the crown they have held since the series began in 2020.

Waratah Masters finishes nearly 600 points ahead of Vikings Cycling Club Canberra, who successfully defended their runner-up spot from ZSUN Cycling Club.
