AusCycling and Global Elite Sports launch an international search for next Performance Director
Aug 23, 2021
AUSCYCLING and Global Elite Sports are set to launch an international search for the new head of high performance who will lead the next evolution of Australia’s pathways and elite cycling programs.
While the recent inclusion of BMX Freestyle in the Olympic program extended the Performance Director’s remit, the formation of AusCycling has added a broader scope to the role.
According to AusCycling CEO, Marne Fechner, the new position will be one of the most dynamic and varied in world sport.
"The person who steps into this role will be responsible for the Performance and Pathway programs of elite athletes across multiple cycling disciplines,’’ she said.
"Importantly, they will also play a critical role in ensuring that our strategy continues the holistic development and support of our athletes, coaches and staff, both in and out of the training and competition environment.
"As we’ve seen at the Tokyo Games, our Road and Track, BMX and Mountain Bike athletes have extraordinary skills. However, we must build and nurture our talent to meet ever-increasing demands and expectations as they contest a packed program of international competition.
‘’We look forward to working with Global Elite Sports to ensure we find the very best person for the role.’’
Managing Director of Global Elite Sports, Richard Stenhouse, said his team was delighted to accept the challenge of securing a top-tier candidate.
"We are honoured to partner with one of Australia’s most successful and high-profile Olympic Sports at an exciting time with the establishment of AusCycling, a new strategic agenda and Brisbane securing the hosting rights for the 2032 Olympics,” he said.
"We are looking forward to working closely with AusCycling on this important appointment process to provide a successful transition post-Tokyo and in the lead up to the World Championships later this year.”
Since it was founded in 2012, Global Elite Sports has successfully recruited for several senior executive and high-performance appointments at organisations including Basketball Australia, Rowing Australia, Sport Australia, Football Australia, FIFA, ICC, New Zealand Rugby, New Zealand Football, Yachting New Zealand, and others.
Full details of the role and application process will be circulated in the coming weeks, in the interim to express your interest please contact Global Elite Sport.
