AusCycling has published the competition format for the 2024 AusCycling Esports National Championships, which will be held on March 22 at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane.

Originally slated to be an omnium-style event, the format will shift to a semi-final and final system.

For both men and women, the National Championships will be contested by up to 10 riders on Zwift. Those participants will earn their place through the qualifying events held online in early March, or through wildcard selection.

At the in-person National Championships, riders will be divided into two semi-finals (five riders per semi-final).

The top three riders from each semi-final (six riders in total) will progress to a winner-takes-all final.

All events will be scratch races: first across the line wins.

AusCycling has also published the routes for the event. The semi-finals will be contested on three laps of the Glasgow Crit Circuit, making for short and sharp racing over 9 kilometres.

The final will be held over two laps of the Rolling Highlands route, an 18-kilometre courses that finishes with an uphill kick to the line.

The male and female winners will receive the iconic green-and-gold jersey of Australian champion in game and in real life.

The inaugural AusCycling Esports National Championships will be held at The Cube on the QUT Gardens Point campus.

It will be the first in-person esports event hosted by AusCycling and will provide an exciting, interactive atmosphere for athletes and fans. Racing begins at 5:00pm and spectator entry will be available at the door for $10. The event will also be live-streamed through SBS on Demand.

Qualifying rounds will take place virtually on Zwift on March 3 and March 11. Entry is free – register now on Entryboss.
