Quest Ivanhoe 129th Austral Wheelrace & Associated Events

Including VIC J17 Madison & Elimination, UCI C1 Sprint & Keirin, UCI C2 Scratch & Points & Para Cycling Events

  • Track
A truly historic photo showing the finish of the 1899 Austral Wheelrace on the grass track at the Melbourne Cricket Club Ground before a crowd of 27,000 spectators. Percy Beauchamp (150 yds) winning by lengths from William Matthews (170 y) and H. Thorn (200 y).

First contested in 1887, the Austral Wheelrace is the oldest continuously running track cycling race in the world and one of the most prestigious events on the Australian cycling calendar. Held alongside a program of feature events and championship racing, the carnival attracts riders from across the country seeking the opportunity to add their name to one of the sport's most celebrated honour rolls and compete in a race that has shaped generations of Australian track cycling champions.

Entries for this event will open in September.
