2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships – Australian Challenge Team

Overview

The 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships will take place from 17–25 July 2026 at the Brisbane BMX Centre within the Sleeman Sports Complex, Chandler, Queensland. 

A recognised centre of BMX racing excellence, Brisbane will host riders from around the world at this world-class venue, featuring purpose-built tracks, excellent spectator facilities, and easy access from Brisbane Airport. Marking the return of the Championships to Australia for the first time in over a decade, the event will showcase the sport’s premier international competition on home soil. 

The Australian Challenge Team will represent the nation across all Challenge and Masters categories, proudly competing in front of a home crowd. 

Event Schedule

An initial event schedule is provided below to assist riders and families with early planning, including travel and accommodation arrangements. 

The full and final event schedule, including confirmed racing days and category allocations, will be released by the UCI after the close of entries. Once published, this information will be shared via official event communications and updated on this page where applicable. 

Riders and parents are encouraged to use the initial schedule as a guide only and to remain flexible until the final schedule is confirmed. 

Selection Overview

Selection for the Australian Challenge Team is managed by AusCycling under the official 2026 BMX World Championships Selection Criteria – Challenge & Masters

General Eligibility Overview
  • Be an Australian citizen  
  • Hold a current AusCycling All Discipline or Race Off-Road membership 
    and 
  • Have a valid UCI ID with Australia noted as their sporting nationality 
  • Meet UCI age-group classifications (riders aged 8 years and over as at 31 December 2026). 
  • Comply with the AusCycling Code of Conduct, Anti-Doping Policy, and relevant team selection policies. 
Selection Events
Selection Process

Eligible selections will allocated as follows: 

For UCI Aligned categories  

  • Group 1: 2026 GWM BMX Racing National Championships –Top Twenty-Four (24) riders. 
  • Group 2: 2026 BMX National Series Round 3 – Top Eight (8) eligible riders not already qualified via Group 1 

For non-UCI aligned categories 

  • 2026 GWM BMX Racing National Championships. Times from all Motos, Qualifiers and Finals to determine the 32 overall fastest riders, in accordance with Table 2, Section 8 of the Selection Criteria. 

Key Acceptance Deadlines

  • 2026 GWM BMX Racing National Championships: 8 May 2026 
  • 2026 BMX Racing National Series Round 3: 3 June 2026 

Riders who are selected will receive official confirmation, together with detailed information regarding uniform ordering, team administration, and event logistics. To formally secure a position on the team, full payment of levies and submission of any outstanding requirements must be completed by the acceptance deadline for each qualifying event, as set out above.

Meet the Leadership Team

The Australian Challenge / Masters Team will be supported by an experienced Leadership Team, overseeing team coordination, athlete support, and on-site operations throughout the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships.

Led by appointed Team Management and Coaches, the team works closely with event organisers and the UCI to ensure a professional, supportive, and well-managed team environment. This group will be your go-to support crew across the entire event — from pre-event preparation right through to race day.

Team Expectations & Rider Information

Representing Australia at the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships is a significant honour. Challenge Team riders are ambassadors for Australian BMX and are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and sportsmanship. 

All selected riders must: 

  • Wear the official Australian Team kit during all official practices and competition sessions. 
  • Attend the mandatory pre-event briefing, (in person or online.) 
  • Arrange their travel, accommodation, and logistics as advised by AusCycling. 
  • Conduct themselves respectfully at all times, on and off the track. 

AusCycling will provide: 

  • Team management and race entry coordination. 
  • Pre-event briefings and rider information packs. 
  • On-site team management and medical support during the Championships 
  • Australian Team on and off-bike clothing (at cost to participants) 

Uniforms and Merchandise 

All Australian Challenge Team members must compete in the official 2026 Australian Team Challenge jersey. 

Team kit ordering and merchandise information will be provided at the 2026 GWM BMX Racing National Championships in Shepparton, Victoria.
