The Development Coach course is aimed at individuals who want to coach riders competing at races at a State/Territory Level. The course focuses on supporting coaches to develop and expand their knowledge to progress riders’ technical skills, fitness and racing skills.

The Development Coach course is a combination of a theory component delivered on-line and a Face-to-Face practical assessment.
The course is completed over 3 days and is delivered via pre-course on-line learning, a one-day online classroom session and two days of Face-to-Face practical sessions. In addition, a post-course workbook is required to be completed.
Day 1 online theory is the first component of the full Development Coach course, the online classroom session covers intermediate coaching principles in general including sports science and is common to all disciplines and must be attended prior to registering for the practical component.
Days 2 and 3 cover discipline-specific theory and practical coaching/instructing skills and techniques at the Development level.
*Note: A minimum registration of 8 participants is required for Day 2 and 3 face-to-face sessions in each discipline.
Development Coach need to operate under the discipline-specific remit, which outlines such items as instructor/rider ratios and the skills that can be taught based on the level of accreditation.

A coach who has completed accreditation in one Development Coach discipline is able to accredit in another discipline through attending day 2 and 3 of that discipline’s face-to-face sessions. The virtual classroom which covers intermediate coaching principles including sport science is common content and only required to be completed once.
You are able to attend Day 1 of the Development Coach Instructor Course (at a reduced cost) and be upgraded to a Development Coach. Completion of pre-course on-line training is required in additional to any other workbook.
The AusCycling Development Coach Course is held twice a year.
