Queensland’s 2021 Federation University Road National Championships campaign ended with a bang, with a haul of 16 medals, 8 gold, 2 silver, 6 bronze, over the five days of racing.

On the opening day, University of Queensland Cycling Club’s Lachlan Miller clinched his maiden national title by claiming the under 19 men’s time trial. While Balmoral Cycling Club’s Isabelle Carnes claimed bronze in the under 19 women’s time trial.

Rainbows shone on the second day of the Road National Championships, with Queenslander David Nicholas winning the Para MC3 Time Trial in his rainbow bands. Nicholas was joined on the podium by fellow Queenslander Kyle Willis who placed third.

Queensland again stood proud on the top step of the podium, with Nathan Glarvey riding the quickest of the 15 starters, in his first national time trial. While Cameron Kosmala took silver in the Para MT2 individual time trial.

Balmoral Cycling Club were triumphant in the Open Men Team Time Trial with Xander Griffiths, Ben Andrews, and Matson McAdam riding to victory.

The third day of the 2021 Federation University Road National Championships saw Queensland riders win four more medals.

In the Elite and U23 Women Criterium, Alexandra Martin-Wallace won bronze, while in the Junior Men Criterium James Panizza also won bronze.

The second day saw para-cyclists hit the course for their time trial, with Queenslander

Isabelle Carnes was the star of the show on the fourth day of racing, taking to the podium for the second time in her Road National Championships campaign to receive her bronze medal in the Junior Women Road Race.

While Nathan Glarvey and David Nicholas backed up their gold medal rides from earlier in the week, to secure gold again in the Men C3 and Intellectually Impaired events.

Cameron Kosmala won silver, and Kyle Willis won bronze in the Men T2 and Men C3 categories.
