RESULTS: 2022 Junior Track State & Territory Championships - South Australia & Northern Territory

It's not every weekend that you get to see junior track racing to the level that we witnessed here at the Adelaide Superdrome at the 2022 Junior Track State & Territory Championships for SA & NT. At every level, we saw not only outstanding performances from individual athletes, but massive improvements from riders in every category, and incredibly tight battles in basically every bunch race!

Some highlights from the weekend included Wil Holmes' Australian Record time in the Individual Pursuit (2:14.158 over 2000m!) backed by just about everyone in the place yelling encouragement on his final lap, an absolute belter of an Under 11 Boys Scratch Race on Saturday morning which was just about as entertaining as any track race I've ever seen, a new rivalry between U15s Hunter Wood and Will Brown who went toe-to-toe across the weekend's events at every chance they got, photo finishes in just about every JW17 race (especially Sunday's Sprint racing), and a Whyalla CC JB15 Team Sprint team finishing top of the table, edging out a strong Norwood CC team and a composite third team for the Gold medal with less than a second separating the three.

Congratulations to all who rode on their achievements on the track over the weekend, and a massive thankyou to Chief Commissaire Lorraine Schutz and her team of officials for giving up the last weekend before the holidays so that we could race.
