2022 Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo Entries Are Now Open!

The Darwin Cycling Club and AusCycling have been working hard to organise the 2022 edition of the Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo, and it’s time for you to make your plans, round up your friends and get those entries in! The Territory’s largest cycling event will return to the streets of Darwin on July 24, 2022, and with options to suit any rider and ability level there’s no reason not to pump up the tyres, get out there and ride!

Courses

The courses for this year’s event have changed, and while the exact routes aren’t being announced today, the distances have been locked in. Whether it’s your first long ride or your 11th go around at the TEGF, you’ll have your choice of distance available when you enter. A 3km RFDS Mini Fondo, perfect for kids and beginner cyclists, a 9km Inpex Fondo for those with a little more experience, and a 25km Elders Fondo that’s perfect if you’re unsure about the longer distances. From there, we skip to the Darwin Family Law “Half” Fondo at 67km, the Heath Motor Group 109km “Tonne” and for the full fondo experience, the 145km Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo will be a feat of serious endurance.

Jersey Design

The 2022 Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo Jersey Design has been finalised and extends an already great partnership between the Darwin Cycling Club and Larrakia, Wardaman and Kurrijarri artist, Danella Lee. Three motifs from Danella’s paintings have been incorporated into the 2022 Jersey Design – the kingfisher, bicycle wheels and tyre tracks in the ground – and the colours used in the jersey were inspired by the kingfisher painting. This year’s jersey partner is Santini, with the Italian marque no stranger to providing the highest quality cycling kit for the world’s biggest cycling events and teams. Production is well underway in their factory in Italy, with delivery expected a few weeks prior to the event.

Entries Open

Entries for the 2022 Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo are available now through the ACE platform, here. Participants in the Heath Motor Group 109km Tonne and Sunbuild 145km Top End Gran Fondo will receive a 2022 TEGF Jersey included in their entry fee, while participants in the shorter events will be able to purchase a jersey (RRP $149) for $99 during the entry process. Entries will close on the Saturday a week before the event, July 16.

AusCycling and the Darwin Cycling Club are excited to announce several ongoing and new partnerships for the 2022 Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo!
