2021 AusCycling Junior Road State Championships - New South Wales

Newcastle Hunter CC with the NSW Team from AusCycling are starting the re-opening with the Junior Road State Championships for New South Wales!

We ask all those attending this event to please arrive with plenty of time to spare before your event to accommodate our event sign on process.

Conditions of attendance

• All attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if they are aged 16 years and over
• All attendees and their dependants must sign in via the Service NSW QR codes that will be placed at the entrance to the venue
• DO NOT attend if you are COVID-19 positive or if have symptoms of COVID-19
• DO NOT cough, spit or sneeze near or onto others
• Spectators are encouraged to clap, rather than shout during events
• Please keep at least 1.5 metres away from others at all times except when participating in events
• Please use the provided hand sanitiser at sign on desk prior to collecting your race pack
• We strongly encourage the use of masks at this event when not participating in events
• Pease DO NOT congregate in areas of high foot traffic such as sign on or start finish

Please follow the NSW Public Health Orders and NSW Health guidelines at all times

 

Event Classification and Prizes

• This event will be held as an "Open Championships"
• Medals awarded to the first 3 place getters of each event
• First rider across the line in each category who's primary AusCycling club is in New South Wales will be declared the State Champion
• Non-New South Wales members may ride in events, but are not eligible for the NSW State Champion title

Event Technical Information

• All riders are required to roll-out before the start of their Individual Time Trial  
• Riders must obey all road rules at all times
• Due to scheduling limitations the U15 & U17 Criterium State Championships for NSW will now  take place in Sydney in December
• Events will be run according to AusCycling Technical Regulations
• Please refer to  section 1.02  specifically for junior age category equipment restrictions

Age Categories & Eligibility

• You will race in your 2021 age category
• You must hold an AusCycling ‘Race All Discipline’ licence
• This event is not open to temporary or recreational memberships

 

Facilities

• Portable toilets will be onsite on the days of event
• Please bring plenty of water with you as there is no running water at HEZ
• Canteen and coffee van will be available on site on both days. Please support the club and local business by making food purchases at the event!

• All vehicles must park in the designated car park area (no exceptions). Volunteers will direct people to the correct area. Should you have special parking requirements please make arrangements prior to the event by contacting:

Event Program 

Sign on process: Patron QR code check in and vaccination status check will all occur at the entrance to the Hunter Economic Zone venue. We kindly request for your patience and to remain in your vehicle for this process as it is part of the events COVID-19 Safety Plan.

NB: All events for U9-U13 categories will be held on Saturday 6th November. Please ONLY attend the race venue for events in your allocated session. Adopt a "Get in, Race, Get out" approach.

Saturday 6th November

Session 1: 9:00am sign on from 8am

• Individual Time Trial Championships - U15 & U17

 

Session 2: 11:30am sign on from 10:00am. Vehicles arriving for session 2 will not be able to drive onto the course until the last rider of the morning session is complete. Please do not arrive before this time, as this will cause traffic congestion at the main road.

• Road Event - Participation
• Road Race Championships - U9-U13

 

Session 4: 2:30pm

Sunday 7th November

Session 5: 9:00am sign on from 8am

• Road Race Championships - U15 & U17
• Races will start with 5 minute gaps between categories 

 

Distances

All events will be held on varied courses on the Hunter Economic Zone road course

 

Courses

Additional traffic furniture has been built into the road surface on the HEZ course. Given this furniture has been permanently placed into the road & can not be removed on race day the following safety measures have been put in place:

1. All bollards and gates will be padded with hay bales & wrapped in rubber mats
2. 100m each side of the gates will be neutralized (no attacking will be permitted)
3. Cones will be placed in the center of the road on both sides of the gates for 100m in each direction indicating the neutral zone
4. Marshal will be placed at each end of the neutral zone with a flag & whistle warning riders.

All vehicles entering the venue will drive past this point of the course on their way to the start line.

Course 1 - Participation Time Trial, Criterium and U9 Criterium: From the start line head up to and go around the roundabout then down the hill and head to U7 turn in the driveway just past the start-line then back up the hill to the finish line 

Course 2 - Participation Road Event: From the start line head up to go and round the roundabout then down the hill to U6 turn in the Spare block driveway then back up the hill to the finish line.
