New South Wales

The floods didn't stop Castle Hill from hosting the third round of the NSW/ACT BMX state series, and it was another sizeable event with 644 entries spread across all age categories.

The racing is always close on Castle Hill's tight downhill track, which provides some exciting tight finishes.

The superclass categories put on a fantastic display, with the junior superclass boasting the race of the weekend with their final having three lead changes between Nathan Granatelli, Tyreak Cala and Jayden Seaton. It came down to the last straight, with Cala coming out the victor and keeping his winning streak alive.

Sienna Pal has been fitting in well to the women's superclass and grabbed her first win after a slick move into turn one.

The men's superclass saw another close battle between Jack Davis and Oli Moran. Moran came out on top on this day but has set up what is looking to be a close battle between the 2 for the series win.

The 9 boys was the biggest category on the day with 35 riders, and Brody Willmott didn't drop a lap all day for the Macarthur BMX Club.

The future of our sport, the Sprockets, had another strong showing with 72 entries and some close fun racing, ensuring the future looks strong for BMX in NSW.

Results from round three can be found here, and the next NSW BMX state series round is at Lake Macquarie on April 18, you can enter here.

Northern Territory

The 2021 HutSix NT BMX state series got off to a blistering start in Alice Springs over the weekend, with riders travelling the length and breadth of the NT to put on a Red Centre BMX Club show.

Red Centre BMX President Brad Bellette promised us “hot racing and hot chips” in the race preview, and the riders, many of whom had made the 3000km round trip from Darwin, were not disappointed!

Some of the nights hottest racing was in the Junior Superclass, with hometown rider Daniel Brooks Jr placing 1st after five motos and setting the night's fastest lap time of 39.8 seconds.

Another well-contested class was the 9 boys with 1NT Jaxson Johns finishing first in the Deadman final.

A special feature of this year's opening round was the inclusion of two highly entertaining MTB classes. Competitors from the Central Australian Rough Riders (CARR) took a brief break from their Easter in the Alice race exploits to line up against each other on the start gate. A dozen MTB riders took full advantage of their new AC Off-Road licences, with CARR Vice President Dave Atkins recording the fastest MTB lap times of the night to win his class.

Results from the opening round of the NT BMX territory series can be found here.

South Australia

Gawler BMX Club hosted over 300 riders for round 3 of the South Australian BMX state series. The weather was stunning, and the racing was competitive across the board, with many riders looking to jump a few spots in the 2021 AusCycling BMX National Cup rankings.

Current national men's junior elite champion, Matthew Tidswell, made it three wins from three in the men's superclass after another strong display from the young gun. A third straight win means Tidswell shoots to the outright top of the AusCycling BMX National Cup in the men's superclass.

Georgia Potter continues to stamp her mark on the National Cup, taking out her third state series round in another dominant display. The Happy Valley rider produced some quick times and will be looking to continue her form on her home track in the next round.

South Australia continues to boast wonderful numbers in the younger age groups, averaging 60 sprockets and mini wheelers at every state series round, reflecting the sport's growth at a grassroots level.

The next round takes place at Happy Valley BMX Club on May 2. Enter Here.

Tasmania

Southern City BMX Club hosted round 3 of the Tasmanian BMX state series. The elements played their role as the event experienced four seasons in one day, from torrential rain to blue skies!

The Mini Wheelers opened racing with riders as young as two pushing themselves up and down the track. They were followed by the cruisers, men's & women with spectators lining the track.

Local rider Oliver Beames was too good on his home track in the 12 boys, claiming all four motos and the final. However, Bryon Lee of Wynyard BMX club still holds the top spot in the AusCycling National Cup for Tasmania after taking out the state series' first two rounds.

It was another great day of successful racing, and it couldn't have been done without the volunteers and the hard work of the Southern City BMX Club.

Results from the day can be found here.

Victoria

The Victorian BMX state series was due to kick off in Shepparton however, due to the lockdown imposed in late February, the season kicked off in Warrnambool on March 14.

It was a mammoth effort from all involved to get the opening round up and going as obstacles kept popping up.

A significant downpour on Saturday meant gate practice was cancelled, and riders kept their fingers crossed ahead of Sunday.

Fortunately, the sun came out, and the skies were clear. Close to 400 riders hit the track for their first taste of the AusCycling BMX Victorian state series, and the stands were packed with lots of family and friends cheering riders on.

Max Cairns of Park Orchards BMX Club and Bella May of Frankston BMX Club blitzed the men's and women's superclass events, not dropping a single moto all day. It was a diverse field on the track as there were over 50 classes across the board.

This weekend sees Rounds 2 and 3 of the state series take place at Shepparton BMX Club.

Southside BMX Club hosted Round 3 of the 2021 AusCycling WA BMX state series with over 500 riders partaking in a massive day of racing.

Cameron Ainger was too strong on his home track in the men's superclass, starting the day slowly but making his mark in the final, edging out Jamie Gill and current WA BMX state series leader Joshua Cooke by the smallest of margins.

The battle of the day occurred in the women's superclass as Felicity Mann and Lilyanne Croft went wheel to wheel. Croft looked the stronger of the two heading into the final after taking out all three of her motos however it was Mann in the final that came out on top, producing a stunning time of 36.064 seconds, her second state series win for the season.

The fourth round of the WA BMX state series will occur on Sunday, April 25, you can enter here.
