The AusCycling 2021 Federation University Road National Championships was officially launched in Mount Helen, Ballarat today, just metres from where Australia's best will battle on the iconic course from February 3-7.

The 2021 Championships will be the first to be held under the banner of AusCycling and significantly one of Victoria’s first major events of the year.

The Championships, usually held in the first week of January but postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, will feature Australia's best cyclists in the elite, under 23, under 19, para-cycling, masters, club and intellectual impairment categories.

The coveted green and gold national champion's jerseys will be on offer in the criterium, road race and time trial, plus Gran Fondo, across five days of action in Ballarat and Buninyong.

While many will have their eyes on the race for gold, event organisers will also be focused on ensuring the health and safety of the community, competitors and the workforce, with the Championships to operate under strict COVID-19 protocols in order to provide a safe environment.

Measures introduced to ensure optimal health and safety include virtual event meetings, plus daily screening and tracing for staff, volunteers, contractors, participants and the public.

AusCycling is pleased to confirm spectators will be welcome to attend the Championships with a host of unique spectating opportunities to be introduced. However, the numbers permitted in certain areas along the course will be reviewed in order to adhere to social distancing requirements.

The iconic Buninyong climb will have a unique feel in 2021 with viewing sections open to those on a first-in, best-dressed basis for groups looking to ensure they don't miss their chance to enjoy a day at the Championships.

A new live site at Federation University will provide an excellent opportunity for spectators to enjoy the race on the big screen and be close to the action to see the riders tackle the high speed and technical part of the course, all while maintaining social distancing.

AusCycling is excited to announce the Championships will feature an enhanced broadcast agreement for 2021 which includes domestic coverage on SBS and FoxSports Australia, and for the first time, international broadcast coverage through the Global Cycling Network.

The Friday night criteriums and Sunday's road races will be shown live, with the addition of daily wrap up shows for each of the five days and daily highlight packages available online.
