Time:   Sat - Arrival at 8.45am for a prompt 9am start until approx. 6pm 

            Sun - 9am start until approx. 4pm.

Venue: Lara Sporting Club, Melbourne, VIC
 

Cost: $495 per person.

 

Your MTB logbook showing 20+ hours needs to be submitted to AusCycling by COB Friday 7th October 2022.

A logbook sample via the link below is an example template, though any format (e.g. legibly handwritten, excel, word doc, etc.) can be used, ensuring it includes the required information (as shown on the sample).

Course Information

Participants will be required to cover their own food, travel and accommodation.

To register and attend the course participants must be a current MTBA or AusCycling financial Members. Free Trial or Day Licences are not accepted.

The AusCycling Development Instructor - MTB course (Level 1 MTB Skills Instructor Course) is a two-day theory and trail intensive aimed at MTB Foundation Instructors wanting to accelerate their instructing to the next level.  The Development Instructor - MTB course will feature an emphasis on the instructors ability to demonstrate trail riding skills to best industry standard as well as consolidation of Foundation Instructing methods. 

Accreditation will involve a pre-course trail audit, instructing on blue trail, risk management documentation and trail side mechanical repairs.  Upon completion participants will be equipped to teach Cyclo-Cross style mounts and dismounts, cornering, pumping the trail, track stands, riding rock gardens, small step ups, small drop offs steep climbs and switch backs on blue trails. 

All Assessments are done during the course with no post course requirements. Successful participants will have their assessment finalised on the last day.

Please Note: There is a pre-requisite documents that MUST be completed and provided to AC at least 2 weeks prior to the course, failure to do so will have you withdrawn from the course. 

Pre-requisite Requirements:

  • Minimum age for attendance is 18 years.
  • Hold a Foundation Instructor MTB or Level O MTB Instructor accrediation.
  • Logbook showing over 20 hour of MTB instructing. (Template available at this link)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid - HLTAID003 or HLTAID011 as a minimum)
  • Valid Working with Children Check relevant to the State/Territory you will be instructing in
  • There is a pre-course worksheet that MUST be completed prior to the course.  This worksheet must be brought to the course for assessment. The worksheet can be downloaded from the coach and instructor resource section of the AusCycling website here.
